Digital India Week (DIW) Part 1

I was appointed by Government of AP as nodal officer for Digital India Week to coordinate with Deity and AP Higher education institutions.

The inauguration

The Government of India has announced ‘Digital India’ which is a Programme to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. It aims at changing the manner in which governance and public services are provided to citizens. This programme also aims at delivering good governance to citizens by synchronized and coordinated engagement and both Central and State Governments. There will be paradigm shift as e-governance will change the way of the delivery of benefits in a faster and more efficient manner. The delivery of message of ‘Digital India’ to citizens and to showcase Government’s initiatives in the area of e-Governance, a formal launch of this Programme, spread over a week, is being organized shortly. The targeted groups to be engaged during ‘Digital India Week’ (DIW) would be the students and faculty members of the Universities which have online platforms (NKN, NMEICT, AICTE, MyGov etc). The major activities during Digital India Week (DIW) would not only be dissemination of information about the existing digital services/platforms, but also to promote usage & sharing of digital resources. The DIW is going to be launched on 1st July, 2015.

Andhra Pradesh state Higher Education Institutions conducted the programme during 20th – 25th July, 2015 across all universities in collaborative manner. The events include various competitions for the students within  and across the the campuses of universities in the state.

  • Hackathon- a 24 hour programming contest ( conducted by AU in collaboration with Startup Village)
  • An interactive session on startups ( conducted by AU in collaboration with IT companies in Vizag.
  • Online exam on Digital India (conducted by AU) for all students of AP state universities.
  • Online Programming contest (conducted by JNTU-Vizianagaram)
  • Introduction to spoken tutorial project ( Conducted by JNTU Ananthpur) for students across different universities in state, IIT mumbai resource persons
  • Creating awareness among high school children about Digital and Internet Media
  • Awareness workshops on using digital lockers and other government supported softwares
  • general competitions like rangoli, essay writing (Padmavathi Viswavidyalaya),
  • online paper submission contest by Adikavi nannayya University
  • Cultural programs by AU
  • Digital India Run ( Beach Road) by AU

Digital India Week Part 2 : Workshop for Deans, Principals and Officers

A workshop was conducted on Digital India to all the officers, deans and principals of Andhra University. The Schemes like Digital Lockers and Digital India Initiatives were explained. The event was conducted in Sennate Hall, Central Administrative Office (CAO).

Technograil 2010

TechnoGrail-2010, a national level technical symposium held at College of Engineering, Andhra University hosted by Department of Computer Science & Systems Engineering under the stewardship of Dr V. Valli Kumari was a unique attempt to reach students from diverse backgrounds and hailing from far off places. It covered technical, academic and cultural events to bring out the creativity and innate talents of the young generation.

The young generation in particular is not bound by convention and tend to experiment with original techniques and approaches that even the experienced might not think of.  TechnoGrail conducted by the CSSE department third time in the row provides a platform for such experimentations.

The inauguration was done by the chief guest Prof. Beela Satyannarayana , the honourable Vice Chancellor of Andhra University.  He blessed the students with his advice. Prof. GSN Raju , principal of AUCE presided over the function. Smt. B. Jaya, Scientist G of DRDO Hyderabad and Mr. Naresh Kumar , CEO of Symbiosis Technologies were the guests of honour. Smt Jaya gave a talk on C4I technologies and Mr. Naresh emphasized that discipline was necessary for a person to be successful. Prof. M. Shashi, Head of the department of CSSE, Prof. V. Valli Kumari, Convener, Mr. DVS Chakradhar ,  Bhaskar and teachers of AUCE ,  students and delegates participated.


Later there were six parallel tracks for paper presentations held during three sessions in which around 1050 students participated. Poster sessions were held in three tracks and 75 teams participated.  In all the 3000 students participated in all the events. There were competitions held in paper presentations, poster presentations, hardware exhibits, software demos, c-programming contest, general quiz, debate, group discussion etc. The proceedings also included short films, music, dance, treasure hunt and the like for people who wanted to explore their creative sides.


The valedictory was graced by Prof. PVGD Prasad Reddy, Registrar of Andhra University and the guest of honour was Sri Gopi Kumar Bulusu, CEO of Sankhya Technologies. Prof. M. Shashi, Head of the CSSE department presided over the function. Prof. V. Valli Kumari, Mr. Chakradhar, Mr. Bhaskar, all the professors and staff of CSSE were among those who were present. Meritorious students of CSSE were given awards. The winners of the contests were awarded cash prizes ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 5000 and certificates. Dr. D. Lalitha Bhaskari Treasurer proposed the vote of thanks.
